#Gametiime Weekend Collection (8/3 – 8/4/13)

Welcome to this week’s #Gametiime Weekend Collection — a collection of photos created by you, the Gametiime community.

Each week, we ask you to:

1. Post a race picture through Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
2. Hashtag your picture with #Gametiime.

These are the stories of you, the amazing runners and triathletes who make up the Gametiime community. Enjoy and we look forward to seeing your race pics in the future!

Gametiime Athletes: Nathan Lam, Ryan Lau
Event: GORUCK Light – Class 067 (Seattle, WA)
Event Description: Good Livin’ happens when you embrace the suck together. It’s good because you’re smiling and it’s livin’ because you know you’re alive. GORUCK Cadre have PhD’s in this kind of fun and they accompany you and your team throughout your entire event. The patch you earn upon successful completion of your event will never be for sale. Wear it with pride.

Gametiime Athlete Highlights:

  • This was both Nathan’s and Ryan’s first GORUCK event. After enduring every bit of the 12 miles and 8 hours of adversity GORUCK threw at them, we wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t their last!

Gametiime Athletes: Jeannie Gilbert, Emily Woods Hockett
Race: Grand Ridge 5M, Half-Marathon,
Marathon
and 50K Trail Run Presented by The Balanced Athlete (Seattle, WA)
Race Description: Join us for a trail run at Grand Ridge Regional Park in the middle of the summer, when the Pacific Northwest is at its finest! The park is a well hidden jewel that sits right opposite of Tiger Mountain off I-90.

We have teamed up with The Balanced Athlete in The Landing in Renton to bring you this event. The Balanced Athlete is a one stop shop for running gear, and nutrition. They will be raffling a pair of shoes and a pair of socks at each event they sponsor so don’t miss out!

Gametiime Athlete Highlights:

  • Jeannie completed the 5-mile trail run just one weekend after completing her first Full Ironman at the Vineman Triathlon in Guerneville, CA.
  • Emily completed her first trail run, also the 5-mile. Here is her race report.
  • Jeannie Gilbert was previously featured in Faces of Gametiime.

Gametiime Athlete: Tasha Malcolm
Race: Nineteenth Annual Medical Lake Kiwanis Mini Triathlon (Medical Lake, WA)

Gametiime Athlete Highlights:

  • Tasha completed her very first triathlon and did so in stellar fashion — finishing in 4th place overall and 2nd place in her AG! What a start!

Gametiime Athletes:
Michael Arau, Iris & Josh Sutcliffe
Race: Port Gamble Marathon & Half Marathon (Port Gamble, WA)
Race Description: A challenging course through beautiful single track trails and dirt roads. This run has a little bit of it all, with plenty of hills and fast descents. We will have beer, soda and BBQ for all participants so stick around after.

Gametiime Athlete Highlights:

  • Josh (and probably more widely known as “Barefoot Josh“) finished 4th overall.
  • Check out race reports from Josh, Iris, and fellow barefoot runner, Mike.
  • Needless to say, as barefoot and minimalist runners, Josh, Iris, and Mike had plenty to chat about post-race and we are thrilled they got a chance to meet at the race.
  • Michael was previously featured in Faces of Gametiime.

Gametiime Athlete: Steve Perry
Race: Power of Pasco Sprint Triathlon (Pasco, WA)
Race Description: This is the fourth event in the 3 Rivers RoadRunners MultiSport
Series. The race starts with a brisk 1/2 mile swim in
the Columbia River along the length of Chiawana Park in Pasco. From the park we bike a total of 20 km on the roads as follows: head upstream on Court Street and through the Harris’ farm (Say hi to the pigs, “oink, oink” and watch out for the chickens.), left on Harris Rd, which bends to the right to become Shoreline Dr, which takes a 90 degree right turn to become Dent Rd, up the little hill on Dent Rd, which bends to the left to hit the turnaround through the housing development, and back the way you came. The 3 mile run is along the foot paths heading north (upstream) from the park, to a turnaround on Court St, and back to the finish in the park.

Gametiime Athlete Highlights:

  • Steve PRed in both the swimming and biking legs. And, despite not PRing due to making a wrong turn, he had a great showing in the running leg as well.

Gametiime Athlete: Robyn Wilson
Race: Spirit of Bellevue 12K & 5K Run/Walk (Bellevue, WA)
Race Description: Lace up your shoes, gather your friends and family and be part of the 2nd Annual Spirit of Bellevue 12K Run, 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Fun Run and Health & Wellness Fair on Sunday, August 4, where proceeds go towards scholarships to help local students attend college! Register by July 29 and be entered to win a Round Trip ticket on Southwest Airlines!

Gametiime Athlete Highlights:

  • Robyn was the third place 5K women’s finisher with a time of 22:46.

Gametiime Athletes: Amanda Morales, Bethany Nicklas, Jessica Placek Durfee
Race: Tacoma Narrows Half Marathon (Tacoma, WA)
Race Description: Run or walk one of the most
unique race courses in the Puget Sound Region! This point to point course starts at the Tacoma Narrows Airport, crosses over the majestic Tacoma Narrows Bridge, runs on the warning track at Cheney Stadium (where you will see yourself on the jumbo tron), and finishes in beautiful downtown Tacoma…the city of destiny.

Gametiime Athlete Highlights:

  • Amanda completed her third half marathon in just the past six weeks.
  • Bethany and her friend, Jamie, both PRed in the race. Here is her race report.
  • Jessica sported her Marathon Maniacs race shirt and Wear Blue: Run to Remember hat in support of honoring the service and sacrifice of the American Military.
