You’ve seen our run blog features. Now, we’re rolling out a series of race features to further empower your running community here in the Pacific Northwest.
For our first race feature, we had the privilege of syncing up with Bryan Harada, the Race Director of a unique 5K in its first year called the Fire & Ice Run, and learning more about what makes it the next “hot” obstacle race. To top it off, we’ve got a “flaming” discount to share with the Gametiime community as well. (see below)
Read more about the Fire & Ice Run, its mission and charitable intents, and what makes it the “coolest” race around.
Tell us about the Fire & Ice Run. What, when and where is it? It is a local winter 5K
obstacle course race, benefitting the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance! It’ll be held in Snohomish, WA on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013.
What to can participants expect to see and do? As of right now, we have over 20 obstacles through which participants will run, climb, jump, and crawl. We’ve tried to infuse elements of fire and ice through each obstacle. Plus, we’ll have bonfires, music, food, and a fire performer/entertainer at the race!
What do you consider to be the best part about the Fire & Ice Run? The unique and creative obstacles we’ve created throughout the course! After hosting the Heroes Mud Run last September, we decided to come up with a winter obstacle course, since there aren’t many around and it’s the offseason for many of these types of races. Plus, we are a local organization trying to promote other local non-profits and charities!
How long has the Fire & Ice Run been around? This is the first annual!
Does the Fire & Ice Run benefit any charitable organizations? If so, which ones? Yes, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. We decided on them for a few different reasons: their reputation, their focus on many types of cancers, their strong ties amongst three of the largest cancer research hospitals in the area, and the fact that they are local to Seattle.
Do you organize other events as well? If so, which ones? Yes! We host the annual Heroes Mud Run and are prepping for about four others this year in the Pacific Northwest.
Anything else you’d like to share with the Gametiime community? This is going to be a ton of fun! Trust me, you won’t want to miss this!
